Toma Tolpa, Chapter Support

For National Volunteer Month, we’re highlighting some of the volunteers that are the lifeblood of SCORE. Without every volunteer, we wouldn’t be able to provide you with the help and resources to start, and grow, your business. Toma assists the SCORE Chicago Chapter in organizing events, assigning mentors, and organizing training. If you're interested in assisting a chapter learn how you can volunteer or request a mentor to get small business help today!

What drew you to SCORE?

I chose SCORE because of its mission to help future entrepreneurs and business owners achieve their dreams and succeed through mentoring and educational workshops at no cost to you.

I know that I am part of a team of people who volunteer their time to give back to society, sharing their expertise to help future entrepreneurs and business owners reach their goals and thrive, making an impact in their life.

How do you support SCORE?

My role within SCORE Chicago varies: Monitor the daily client mentoring requests and assign clients to appropriate mentors, book appointments and enter activities in Engage; prepare reports upon requests; coordinate workshops and enter them in Engage; train mentors with Engage; contact the new volunteers and walk them through the onboarding process; assist with all other assigned tasks which support the organization.

What’s your most rewarding moment with SCORE?

I receive emails from clients saying thank you for what SCORE does for them. They’re grateful for their mentors or for the informative webinars we provide. When people are sending you emails of gratitude it's what makes your hard work worth it. You know you were able to help someone.
